Since 2001, Pure Trek Canyoning has been the leader in Waterfall Rappelling in Costa Rica. We believe in doing one thing and being the best at it, and for us, that’s canyoning. Come enjoy this fun tour with great guides, spectacular views, and beautiful trails throughout. We are family friendly and no experience is necessary.
After doing a lot of activities during a week, rappelling, rafting, ziplines, hiking, etc etc, this is by far our best activity. We were a group of 2, my husband 43, me 38 and daughter of 8yrs old. All of us want to repeat it. There are four water falls, first one 165 ft, the tallest. The staff was the friendlier staff among all of our tours in arenal and monteverde. They really know what they are doing, a lot of safety. Do not get scared foe you kids, because they control their ropes. I was very scared for her before they explained me. Really highly recommended. We do not understand why they are not #1.
If you want adventure, fun, something for everyone, this is the adventure to do. Pure Trek was hands down the best adventure we have had and probably the best thing we have done as a family on vacation. The experience of the team and their professionalism made even the most jittery among us comfortable. I would have never bet on getting a group of 20 novices to rappel down 165 feet for the first rappel. But even the older ladies did it. My 13, 15, & 17 year olds all went sailing over the edge without so much as a bye mom. The men in charge, brothers Micheal and Jorge, specifically instill total calm and confidence. They are in complete control of each person as he or she descends. There are 4 rappells of 45, 80. 90. and 165 feet. You rappel into beautiful waterfalls. Between rappels, you hike along thick gorgeous jungle paths. If you have to choose one big event, this is the one to choose and Prue Trek specifically.
The thrill and satisfaction from rappelling canyon crevices next to waterfalls will be my best memories of Costa Rica! The guides were engaging, encouraging, and fun. I especially appreciate the safety procedures and good equipment. This is a first rate adventure and I would highly recommend it to all. Rappelling is easy to learn and is not physically difficult. My 55 year old friend is scared to death of heights, but is now very proud of herself. Thank you Cynthia and Pure Trek!
Our family (2 adults, a 17 year old and a 14 year old) just did the waterfall rappelling tour yesterday and it was fantastic! Pablo, Michael and Antonio and all of the others were so professional. You always felt safe. They were fantastic and I highly recommend this for the whole family. Best part of trip to Arenal. The lunch provided at the end was good, but can’t say enough about the guides!
I love taking friends and family on this amazing adventure! I’ve been three times now over the past four years. The staff and guides are so knowledgeable and professional. I feel totally safe and have a great time. The falls and canyon are beautiful. What an adrenaline rush!! And, on this last trip there were people from the ages of 6 to 60! Wow!
This was the best experience we had in CR. Above all it is a first class establishment. If you go to CR this is the most important adventure to do. The hot springs, snorkeling, zip lines, and spas are nice, but the thrill and beauty you get rappelling is amazing. We traveled from Guanacaste to do it! Pure Trek is worth repeating over and over again.
Canyoning with Pure Trek was one of the highlights of our trip. Rappelling into the waterfalls was a blast and our guides were awesome! A special shout out to our guide Allen for making our experience awesome! The safety of the entire operation is top notch and the guides are very knowledgable of all of the equipment and made everyone very comfortable. The guides kept us laughing the entire time and it was an excellent opportunity to meet others touring Costa Rica.
If you want to go on a Costa Rican Adventure that can include your entire family this is the place. This adventure is easy to do for anybody and can really get your kids out of the “plastic world” of a Disney Vacation. This is the real deal!
We had this experience with our two boys: a 10 and a 6 year old. It was our first time and all the staff made everything to be perfect! Me and my little one were a little scared, but they made us feel comfortable and secure. After the first one, my 6 years old lost his fear and just had a great time with his brother! We rappelled down 4 times, and the first one is far the best! Also they took great pictures for the family and sell them on a DVD at the end. We had a wonderful and unforgettable time. For my kids, it was the best adventure at Costa Rica.
We used Pure Trek for canyoning with our kids (12,10 and 8) and we all love it. One of my kids was a little scared and they totally made her feel comfortable and she loved it. There are four rappels with short easy walks in between them. They are all lovely and fun. the first one is the best. As a rock climber, I was impressed by their safety-multiple safety backups to ensure that nothing can go wrong.
My biggest surprise was the lunch afterwards. Pure Treks base camp is very nice and the lunch was very good. We also got the pictures which was nice also.
It’s not difficult to see why Pure Trek Canyoning has five stars…it is just that, a five star experience. As mentioned in the hundreds of other reviews, this was an amazing tour, extremely well run and one of the most exhilarating four hours you will ever spend. The staff is awesome, knowledgeable and just downright fun. The waterfalls are beyond breathtaking, the trails are well groomed and their entire system runs like a well oiled machine. Lunch was delicious however the fresh pineapple juice and homemade tortillas made it even better. All facilities were not only clean but steps are obviously taken to go above and beyond, from stocking “feminine” products in the restrooms, to the fresh hot coffee before and after your tour. Don’t even think of going to Costa Rica and passing this one up. You will not be disappointed.
When my wife, three teenage daughters, and I signed up for this excursion, I had no real idea what we were getting into. We had simply asked for something “exciting and unique.” We got it in spades. After a twenty minute truck ride into the mountains, some instructions on the basics of rapelling and a fifteen minute hike, we found ourselves on a platform 160 feet above the canyon and next to a waterfall. I was told to “turn around and push off.” Not being a fan of heights, I was motivated to do so only by the fact that my daughters had gone ahead and there was no other way back. By the fifth waterfall, we all wanted to go back and do it again. The guides were wonderful, the scenery beautiful, and the trip was well organized. My highest recommendation for this great trip.
